Keeping Promises
The campaign for Children's Hospital is a chance to be part of a once-in-a-generation opportunity to support the building of an expansion facility unlike any other our state has seen to-date. Learn More.
The Foundation
A hospital is no place for a child. We all would rather see children home, going about the business of simply being children. However, there is no question that when Alabama children need specialized pediatric healthcare, Children's Hospital is where they should be - but only for as long as they must be. Going home, or perhaps being at home, is the essence of our mission and vision - we're about getting kids home. And because you give, our kids get to go home. Learn more about giving.
Children's Miracle Network
Children's Hospital in Birmingham was among the first to join the Children's Miracle Network (CMN) and has raised more than $34 million through its 20 years of participation. One hundred percent of money raised here stays in Alabama and goes directly to Children's. One hundred percent of the dollars raised through CMN national sponsors goes directly to Children's Hospital. The more than $2 million raised in Alabama under the CMN umbrella last year alone testifies to the teamwork shown by the families, friends, advocates of children and CMN sponsors who want quality pediatric health care for our next generation.
Established in 1983 to help kids, CMN's mission is to generate funds and awareness programs for its 170 associated pediatric hospitals in the United States and Canada. Nationally, the CMN Broadcast has raised more than 2 billion (228 million in 2001) for children's hospitals and is the largest broadcast fund-raising event in North America. To find out how your organization can get involved with CMN, call Community Development at 939-9671.
Miracle Balloons continue to be on sale throughout Alabama at participating Credit Union for Kids locations, Rite-Aid pharmacies, Marriott properties, Goody's, Wal-Mart locations, Auntie Ann's Pretzel stores and Dairy Queen restaurants. The balloons are also available at participating movie theaters. The cost is just $1 and all proceeds benefit ill and injured children in Alabama through CMN.
Volunteering
It takes integrity, teamwork and innovation to provide the finest pediatric health services to all children and volunteers play a key role in this process. Volunteers provide services that might not otherwise be possible. They give their time so staff may work more efficiently.
