Regular employees scheduled to work 20+ hours per week are eligible for these benefits:

Medical CHS offers three health plans: Viva Health, Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO and Blue Cross Blue Shield Consumer Driven with a Health Savings Account.  None of our health plan requires a Primary Care referral to see a specialist physician.  CHS pays a significant portion of the monthly premiums.
Dental CHS offers Blue Cross Blue Shield Preferred Dental plan and a CompBenefit Advantage Option.
Vision Our vision plan is offered by Vision Care Plan.
Flexible Spending
Accounts                  
CHS offers a Health Care Spending Account and a Dependent Care Spending Account.  Employees may contribute pre-tax dollars to these accounts to cover qualified expenses that are usually paid out-of-pocket with after-tax dollars.  Because employees do not pay Federal, State Income, or Social Security taxes on the money contributed to these accounts, their bring home pay is usually higher.

CHS provides all benefit eligible employees term life insurance equal to 2 times their base salary, up to $50,000.  Employees may also purchase additional term life insurance at affordable group rates.  Employee Supplemental Life, Spouse Life, and Dependent Life insurance options are available.
401k Plan CHS offers a 401k plan with a generous match of $.50 on the dollar up to 14% of your compensation contributed.  Participating employees choose from a wider variety of investment options offered through Fidelity Investments.  Fidelity Investments even offers a family of funds that you don't have to manage!
Financial Finesse Through a partnership with Financial Finesse, employees can receive free financial guidance from a Certified Financial Planner. Whatever your financial dream, Financial Finesse can help make it a reality.
Long-Term Disability Base benefit of 60 percent Long-Term Disability coverage after six months of service for most full-time employees at Main Campus, plus the option to purchase 70 percent coverage.
Group Universal Life Employees may also purchase Group Universal Life insurance through UnumProvident.
Long-Term Care Employees may purchase LTC coverage at group rates.  The employee's spouse, parents and parents-in-law are also eligible to purchase coverage.
Identity Theft Sheild Plan CHS offers an ID protection plan that provides for continuous credit report monitoring and identity restoration to correct damages caused by identity theft.

Paid Time Off                  

The CHS Paid Time Off (PTO) bank combines vacation, holiday, personal and short-term sick time into one flexible plan.  The PTO plan is flexible because it allows you to schedule time off away from work when it is important to you.  The PTO plan also provides options such as Annual PTO Selling and PTO Donation.
Extended Illness Bank CHS provides an Extended Illness Bank to meet pay continuation needs during absences due to serious illness or maternity leave.  Employees begin accruing EIB on their first day of employment.  EIB can be taken for your own illness/maternity leave or the illness of your spouse, children or parents.

A licensed Massage Therapist is on campus weekly to provide employees discounted seated massage.
Fitness Discounts CHS is able to offer an employee discount with a wide variety of local fitness facilities.

Each year, employees may attend informative Lunch and Learn sessions covering health topics.

Screenings
All employees are eligible for various health screenings.  All employees may receive annual flu vaccination at no charge.
Free Programs Employees can participate free of charge in a number of programs including Smoking Cessation and Disease Management.
Wellness Programs Recieve a discount each pay period for maintaining a healthy lifestyle and participating in our quarterly Healthy Behavior Incentive Program. We also provide onsite fitness classes, onsite Weight Watchers meetings, and gym membership discounts.

Professional and Personal Development

Tuition Reimbursement After 6 months of employment, employees are eligible for tuition reimbursement.  Fulltime employees can receive up to $3,500 per year, and part-time employees can receive up to $1,750 per year.
On-site Classes Spanish, Business Math, Grammar, and English classes are brought on-campus for employees.
Developmental Classes CHS Training and Development team serves as a system-wide resource for the educational and development activities that promote excellence in performance and service.

 Family Focused Benefits 

Adoption Assistance Regular, benefit eligible employees who have completed six (6) months of employment are eligible to participate in the program.  Eligible employees may receive up to $3,000 per adoption or up to $4,000 per adoption if the child has special needs.  Eligible employees may apply for reimbursements for up to 2 children.
Near & Dear Onsite Childcare                 Near & Dear is an on-site center for children of CHS employees.  Located on CHS campus, the center provides emergency back-up child care and mildly ill childcare for children ages 3 months to 12 years.  The center is also available daily for new parents with infants ages 6 weeks to 3 months.
On-site Lactation Center CHS is very proud to offer lactation benefits to parents.  The center provides: a relaxing atmosphere, pump equipment and supplies, and a resource center for families.

Employee Assistance Program  Confidential assistance with: Family and Marital Issues, Alcohol/Drug Dependency, Stress related issues, Financial difficulties, Mental/Emotional Issues and Child care and Elder care counseling.
Banking Services              Many local banks offer discounted or free checking accounts to CHS employees. 
Employee Discounts Employees are eligible for many discounts.  Currently, employees may purchase discounted Birmingham Broadway series tickets, Vision Land admission tickets, and Six Flags admission tickets.  Also, employees are eligible for discounts in the Hospital gift shop and cafeterias.
MetPay CHS offers group auto, homeowners and other property and casualty insurance coverage through the MetPay Program.
